The Biales family is believed to be landsmen of the Gottlieb family, also residents of Lomza Gubernia, in the Bialystok Province of the Russian Empire. The Biales families and Gottlieb families lived very near each other in Cleveland, in the early 20th century.

We currently know of at least three marriage relationships between Gottlieb and Biales family members:

• Srokie (Dave) Biales was the father of Rose Biales. Rose married Jacob Walter (Jack) Gottlieb.
• Srokie (Dave)'s sister Itke (Edith/Yetta) was married to Julius Gottlieb.
• Srokie (Dave) Biales married Harry Gottlieb's widow, Peshy/Bessy, after Harry's death in 1948.
